THE VULGAR – Fashion Redefined is the name of the latest exhibition in Hasselt. Two questions are considered being the main topic: What is good taste and why is something considered vulgar? It’s all about taste in fashion for the past centuries and contemporary fashion. Adam Phillips (psychoanalyst) made twelve definitions of the word ‘vulgar’ and are used throughout the exhibition.
The collection that is used contains 18th century dresses to the latest Chanel or Prada items. But what is good taste in fashion? Is it a candy or McDonalds Moschino dress? A pop-art printed dress or the Mondrian collection of Yves Saint Laurent? Decide yourself and watch the video to take a look at The Vulgar, Fashion Redefined.
